June 11 1942 – March 30 2026
‘Treasure your one precious life and live it to the fullest’, that was Carol. She was adventurous, plucky, empathetic and cared deeply about social justice and the environment. After schools in Kerrisdale and West Van, Carol graduated from UBC in BioChem ’64. Worked in labs in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, then became an entrepreneur with a restaurant on Quadra Island and the Materialist shop (used clothing) on Alma St. Choosing a new path, she returned to UBC and achieved an MSW. Carol was an outstanding Social Worker for the Kitsilano team of Vancouver Mental Health. She could be seen whizzing round Vancouver on her bicycle, singing in choirs, challenging cross country trails in winter or camping and hiking in summer. Throughout her life she volunteered for many non-profit organizations. She believed in personal agency and was active in a group who met regularly for 15 years to offer support in achieving life’s goals. Carol -Queen of the veggie garden for her condo but also a very quirky and creative knitter.
Over the years travelling companions joined her to explore Turkey, England, Paris, Tuscany, Peru, Portugal, India, Cuba, Mongolia, China, Russia, Trans-Siberian railway and even the Camino. Everywhere, acquaintances became friends, drawn by her joyous enthusiasm. Missing her dearly are her Crabtree family, nephews Alex and Marcus, sister-in-law Gill and brother-in-law Barry Goff and wife Loryl and her large group of loving friends.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Sunrise Community Hall on June 9 at 6pm
You are invited to donate to the Wilderness Committee in memory of Carol.
