KORU'S CORE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
FOUNDATION OF ALL SERVICESThe following four core professional services are the foundation of our full service bundles, when KORU Cremation | Burial | Ceremony is asked to assist in all aspects of caring for your deceased person. Other service options can be added as needed.

Includes in-person or remote consultation(s) with a licensed Funeral Director, disposition management, 24/7 urgent availability

Includes documentation, death registration, online obituary, a comprehensive estate settling program with Cadence Executor Assistance and Grief Resources, mailing of Death Certificates and discounted services for a HelpText subscription.

From place of death to KORU's place of practice or to a private home, 24 hours a day, any day of the week.

Memorial Planning Services $675
Memorial planning fee for KORU cremation clients. Includes all necessary coordination and communications to plan a memorial service at a local venue. This includes coordinating with the service venue, caterer, celebrant or clergy person, florist, A/V specialist, memorial card orders and video slideshow requests.

Custom Memorial Service Planning $1675
Memorial planning fee for new clients seeking only memorial services (not combined with cremation or burial services). Includes all necessary coordination and communications to plan a memorial service at a local venue. This includes coordinating with the service venue, caterer, celebrant or clergy person, florist, A/V specialist, memorial card orders and video slideshow requests.

Trained, unlicensed attendants to attend and assist during a ceremony service. Price is per person, and up to 4 hours of time.

KORU GATHERING ROOM (maximum ten people)

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Provision of a traditional hearse for transportation of the deceased to and from a funeral service

CREMATION and TERRAMATION FEES
All cremation fees include an enviro fee and a sustainably made urn

Base Rate, Preferred Crematorium $600
The cremation takes place at West Shore Crematorium and is scheduled by the crematorium, no family present

Expedited Cremation $965
When cremation is requested to occur within 72 hours from the date on the signed cremation authorization form, no family present

Base Rate, Alternated Crematorium $750
Cremation takes place at Maple Ridge Crematorium and is scheduled by the crematorium, no family present

Witness Cremation (Option A) $1545
The family chooses a day and time to be present for the start of the cremation (cremation takes place at Maple Ridge Crematorium)

Witness Cremation (Option B) $2345
The family chooses a day and time to be present for the start of the cremation (cremation takes place at Vancouver Crematorium)

Terramation Services at Return Home USD $5950
Terramation (Natural Organic Reduction) is not permitted to be offered in BC at this time. KORU has partnered with Return Home in Auburn, WA, to offer these services to Metro Vancouver residents. The price includes Return Home's terramation process (approximately 60 days), facility access for family visits during that time and packaging of the remains. The price in USD is $5450. The Canadian price will vary based on the current exchange rate.

Terramation Laying in Ceremony USD $1000
Laying in of the deceased person into a terramation vessel prior to the initiation of the process, led by Return Home staff. The price is USD $1000. The Canadian price will vary based on the current exchange rate.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES & OPTIONS

Cadence Executor Assistance Program $50
A comprehensive after-care program to help executors with estate settling matters as well as grief support services. This service is offered complimentary in all of KORU's bundled service options (with the exception of the MSBC Direct Cremation service and the On-line Direct Cremation service) but can be purchased by MSBC and On-line Direct Cremation client families.

Ocean burial of artificial reef memorials that incorporated a person's ashes (cremated remains). Deployment of the reef takes place, in local waters around Vancouver Island and Metro Vancouver

Custom floral arrangements. Eco-practices and offerings available.

When KORU's staff are asked to dispose of two or more floral arrangements.

Forever Connected Pocket Hearts $300
Solidified ash service provided by West Coast Memorials (a BC-based company). Sold in multiples of six. $25 for shipping will be added to the order. Please contact KORU directly for the full line of memorial jewelry and products offered by West Coast Memorials.

Fees may include the cost of purchasing a plot or niche, interment fees, other related costs. These fees are normally paid directly to the cemetery.

Memorial Society of BC (MSBC) $35
A one-time administrative fee remitted to the Memorial Society of BC, applicable only if the deceased was a member. MSBC members receive 10% off professional services.

A note on taxes:
5% GST applies to all professional services, merchandise, and most other third party fees, including the Consumer Protection BC (CPBC) Administrative Fee, cemetery fees and the Memorial Society of BC records fee (where applicable).
PST (7%) applies to most merchandise items, such as flowers, caskets, urns, shrouds, and jewelry.
Death certificates are supplied by BC Vital Statistics and issued by funeral homes and are not subject to either GST or PST.
