KORU and COVID-19

KORU and COVID-19

Firstly, we just want to recognize the anxiety and stress that is mounting as we are forced to  cope with the constant updates and directives that are affecting our daily lives. These are, without doubt, incredibly challenging times.

The work that KORU does in end of life care is very relational-based. We know the benefits of in-person meetings with clients when a death is imminent or has already occurred. We are social beings and the comfort and peace of mind that comes from being personally engaged with your guide (funeral director) for any kind of end of life event is invaluable. However, the threat of COVID-19 is forcing all of us, KORU included, to alter all interactions, regardless of circumstances.

For KORU this now means that we will continue to offer our guidance and service for you, your families and your communities through virtual and other remote means. Our in-person meetings and consultations will now largely be done through a combination of virtual technology, along with email and phone communications. We are set-up to be able to safely and securely send all necessary forms through electronic means. We do recognize that not all people will have access to electronic technology and are also able to meet in-person with a limited number of people (no more than two) at our office in Vancouver, providing that all present are free from any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 virus.

All meetings are by appointment

Most importantly, your dead will continue to be cared for, including time with the deceased (viewings) for a maximum of four people at a time. Cremation and burial are all still being practiced and graveside ceremonies at the cemetery are possible. Your living families will also continue to receive our support, gentle guidance and mindful assistance.

Update for Gatherings:

KORU is working with New Narrative Memorials – a professional, tech savvy, and local company who provide virtual end of life gatherings and ceremonies.

As practices, protocols and recommendations change, KORU will adjust and will keep you informed. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 604-324-8285 or 604-770-1471 or by emailing us at info@korucremation.com. Our “Contact Us“ page may be helpful for you as well.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay sane. We will persevere.
