It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Blair on January 31st, 2025, surrounded by his family and sister Carol. He is survived by his loving children, Liam and Devin and wife of 40 years, Colleen.
Born in 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland, David faced early adversity, overcoming polio at the age of 3. But for those who knew him, that never slowed him down. David, his parents and siblings Colin, Allan, Nairn, Fiona and Carol moved to B.C. in the 60’s. David would go on to become an accountant with the City of North Vancouver where he worked for nearly 40 years, and where he met lifelong friends. He was an accomplished athlete competing in two Paralympic Games, along with the Commonwealth games, PanAm games, and various national and provincial competitions. He was a founding member and president of the Wheelchair Sports Association, past chair of the Paraplegic Association and various other organizations. He found great meaning in his volunteer role as Treasurer at the RayCam Community Center in the downtown eastside. His proudest accomplishments came in being a husband, father, and friend.
David led his life with courage, integrity and selflessness up until the day he passed, always standing by his convictions and giving to the community.
In his honour there will be a celebration of David’s life on February 15th at Highlands United Church at 2pm. Watch on live stream at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJDxhO14qo0.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC Centre for Ability, bc-cfa.org.

Dear Colleen,
We are so sad to hear about David’s passing. You and David were great neighbours in West Van and we always enjoyed talking to David as he was out going around the block. He always had words of encouragements for our son in regards to football and running. It was obvious he loved sports – and people. Even though we haven’t seen him in a few years, we will miss him.

My mother was very good friends with the Blairs back in the 60s (they knew each other from Scotland) and I have fond memories as a little girl of all of the Blairs particularly David and Carol. I often thought of them throughout the years and was sad to see that David had passed. My condolences to all the family.
