Marlys Susan-Lynn Holmes (Morrison), age 64, passed away on January 20, 2018 at the North Shore Hospice, surrounded by her family and close friends, after many years of suffering with MS.

Marlys was born on April 30, 1953 in Port Alice, B.C. to John and Nina Morrison (Benson). She graduated from West Vancouver High School in 1971 and after travelling across Canada returned to West Vancouver. She met her husband to be, Stephen and they were married in 1974, resided in Richmond until 1980 when they moved to North Vancouver. Marlys spent many long hours volunteering at her children’s school during their early years, helping in the library and designing and making many costumes for various school functions. She was an accomplished cook, avid gardener, lover of the outdoors and had a cheeky sense of humour.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Stephen; three children, Tara, Lauren and Troy; son in laws, Ben and Trevor; daughter in law, Sandy; grandchildren, Audrey, Chloe, Roy, Iris and Emilia; mother, Nina; sister, Wendy; brothers, Ian and Rory and various nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, John and brothers, Chuck and John. A Celebration of Life was held on January 23rd, attended by family and her close personal friends.

A special heartfelt thank you to Ian Harrison for his dedicated care of Marlys over the past seven years. You made it possible to keep Marlys at home until the end. Our family would also like to thank the care staff at the North Shore Hospice and Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care unit for their compassionate care of Marlys.
