It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Lai Ming Ng, on Monday May 30, 2016 at the age of 74.  Lai Ming was a loving and caring mother as well as a devoted daughter, who loved her family very much. Her home was a sanctuary where friends and visitors were always welcomed and well fed.  As she grew older her physical health declined but not her warm heart or generous spirit – both held steady and true through the good and tough times.  Lai Ming possessed an inner strength which helped her overcome many obstacles in her life. This fortitude was balanced with an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humour that brought smiles to all who knew her.  When she wasn’t singing with joy, she would wish all those around her, “good luck!”  She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters Shukling Ng, Sauching Ng, Pao-San Bo McElheron, son Honkit Ng, son-in-law Derrick William McElheron, daughter-in-law Moeko Sanada, grandson Jonathan Daniel Ho Yin McElheron, and granddaughters Julianna Huguette Ho Mei McElheron and Hana Sanada Ng.

Memorial service will be held at the Garden Chapel in the Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC, 250-658-5621 on Tuesday June 7, 2016 at 12:30 p.m.  Afterwards, she will be laid to rest in The Woodlands. Memorial donations may be made in Lai Ming Ng’s honour to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society, 555 Carrall Street, Vancouver, B.C., V6B 2J8,

    Dear Shukling,
No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort knowing that your Mother is now resting.
Our deepest condolences to you and the family.

Sounds like she was an absolutely wonderful woman and clearly will be dearly missed. This has been an extremely difficult time for your family over the last several months and I am truly very sorry for your loss. I certainly hope you can find peace in the fact that your mother lived a very full life and willing gave of herself unselfishly. Again, my heartfelt condolences to you and all of your family.

To Sauching, Shuk, Bo and Kit
Found a quote that struck a cord for me. “It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.”
    ― Lemony Snicket, Horseradish
The text you wrote for you mum is beautifully written, she would have been proud of you.

The loss of parents provides a time for reflection that reveals they have not left us completely. Rather, the time and experiences that was shared with them continue to shape you and all those around you. Our sincere condolences to you and your family.
