Dear family, friends and community,

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that Ryan Cherewaty – beloved brother, uncle, family and friend – left this world on Monday, June 9th, 2025. 

For those who knew Ryan, you know that it is impossible to ever summarize who he was to his people and community. Amongst many things, he was a visionary artist, a designer of rare vision, a tastemaker that inspired creativity in those around him. He had a big heart full of generosity, sensitivity and empathy, a sharp sense of humour, and was sometimes mischievous. He was a seeker of meaning and understanding. He found joy in loved ones, his cat Cucco, nature, cycling, travel, hockey, crusty sourdough bread, making the best banana bread for friends, and, of course, music and art. 

Ryan, age 44, was born in Oshawa, Ontario and was the 4 th child of predeceased parents Eugene Cherewaty and Sharon Fowler. He is deeply loved by his siblings Jen, Matt and Sara Cherewaty as well as sister in law Kelly, and brothers in law Eddy and Derek. His nieces and nephews Cassidy, Willow, Trent, Finn and Marley each hold a piece of his gentle, creative spirit in their hearts. Ryan holds a cherished part of Jojo Schofield’s life as a godfather and chosen uncle, as well as amongst his community of dear friends.

Toronto Celebration of Life
We will be holding a Celebration of Life in Toronto on Sunday, July 27th, 2 pm – 6 pm at Standard Time: 165 Geary Ave 2nd Floor Unit A.

We are grateful for the time we had with Ryan in this world. On Sunday, July 27th, we will fill our hearts with the many memories we can share together to celebrate all that is Ryan Cherewaty.
