Sherann Broder

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sherann Broder in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 84.

Sherann will be lovingly remembered for the light and energy she brought into every room. Her boisterous laugh was unmistakable, and her bright blue eyes sparkled with wit, warmth, and delight. She had a remarkable ability to see the best in everything and everyone, living a life rich in family, friendship, and joy—spending little time on anything that did not matter.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Sherann attended Mount Pleasant Elementary School, where her academic excellence enabled her to skip a grade, and later King Edward Secondary School, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Those early connections remained deeply meaningful throughout her life, as Sherann had a rare gift for drawing people into her circle, making everyone feel welcome, and maintaining cherished relationships over the years.

Following graduation, she worked at Guaranty Trust Company of Canada and the Blue Boy Hotel before finding her dream career with Canadian Pacific Air (CP Air). As a Coordinator of Events, Sherann thrived—combining her natural warmth, organization, and love of people. Her role allowed her to travel across Canada and abroad, an experience she embraced fully. She took great pride in her work and in the many friendships she formed with colleagues.

In 1962, Sherann met the love of her life, Eugene. They married on October 1, 1966, beginning a partnership that would span 59 devoted years. Eugene was both her rock and her wings—offering unwavering support while always encouraging her to pursue her passions and sense of adventure.

Sherann embraced life wholeheartedly. She was an avid fan of figure skating and travelled across Canada to attend competitions, always supporting her favourite Canadian skaters. She also held a deep appreciation for the British monarchy and relished trips to the United Kingdom and throughout Europe to witness significant moments and explore new places. Many of her happiest memories were made travelling alongside Eugene, her sister, family, and dear friends gathered over a lifetime of connection.

At the heart of Sherann’s life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Andrea, whose constant presence—both inside the home and out in the garden—brought her great joy, and to her son Darren, along with his wife Mary. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Linden, Conrad, Holly, and Priya, each of whom she loved “to the moon and back”.

Sherann was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Eleanor Heath, her sisters Mona and Muriel, and her brother Roland.

She will be fondly remembered as a best friend to many—someone who generously shared her time, her laughter, and her heart. Her comfortable companionship, wonderful sense of humour, quick wit, and accepting nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Sherann leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and enduring connection. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Interment followed by a reception will be held at Mountainview Cemetery on Saturday July 4th at 1:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Kidney Foundation.

We love you to the moon and back.
