Dec 4, 1935 – Jan 18, 2025

Glyn passed away at the age of 89 with his children by his side.
Dad was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to parents his William Wallace and Agnes. William and his grandmother Jessie moved to Vancouver 1938. Agnes passed away when Dad was 4 and his father passed when he was 7 years old. Glyn spent time with his aunts Florence and Alice and cousins ( Ian/Margret and Bruce/Ralph). He was raised by his loving grandmother Jesse.
Glyn went to Mount Pleasant Elementary and High School. There he met Eric Johnson, who he remained life long friends. As youths they got up to lots of mischief and later brining their families together on camping trips when they weren’t going off on “Dad fishing trips”
After graduating Dad attended UBC to become a teacher. This wasn’t his calling and he began working at logging camps, US railway and later became a Longshoreman.
Glyn was a caring man who always wanted to do the right thing. He married Darlene in 1962, soon after they had Lauren, a smiling baby girl. When they went their separate ways, Glyn was now a single Dad but he had help from his grandmother, aunts and cousins (Ian and Trudie).
Dad enjoyed working as a Longshoreman and he retired at age 63. He worked very hard over the years to provide for his family. He made many great friends; Leo, Art, John and Darryl to name a few. He would also meet up with his friends for hunting trips and family camping trips in the summers.
Dad enjoyed playing badminton where he met Rangie & Roger, Bea & Keish, John & Jackie, Bill Marlor and Gail.
Gail and Glyn were married in 1971. Glyn was a caring, strong and protecting husband. They lived together on West 14th with their loving landlords Uncle Fred and Grandma Viv next door. They had Morgan in 1972 and Karly in 1974. Soon after they moved to their home on East 40th. Over the years Dad rebuilt their house room by room and added a garage, decking and shed with help from his friends. They instilled a strong work ethic in their children, along with the importance of an active lifestyle.
When Mom and Dad retired they enjoyed many travels together including cruises with Norm & Ruth and many others.
Dad was in his element when hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He gave this gift to his children which they have shared with their families. We’ve had some of the best times going on big camping trips with the whole family.
Dad always had a drink for his family and friends at his bar. Serving his home-brew, rum and cokes and some Moonshine, just bull shitting and entertaining at his many open house parties.
Glyn has 9 grandchildren. Lauren/Jamie’s daughters Caila and Tessa, Morgan/Nicki’s sons Tyler, Stephan, Lucas and Gavin and Karly/Pete’s children Ruedi, Isla and Sian. He loved spending time with his family around a campfire, at his bar and in the living room while in his lazyboy recliner patting his dog (Bear, Russell, Charlie).
He will be visiting his wife of 53 years who will be calling him to come sit in his lazyboy chair, dinner is warm and the British murder mystery is about to begin.
Dad we will miss you!

I enjoyed working with Glyn and his pardner John when working the ships. We used to trade fishing and hunting stories all the time. One of the nicest guys you could meet. Tight lines Glyn. RIP, Paddy
